LG Launches New Mini Phone

Seoul April 07, 2010 — LG Electronicshas launched its new LG Mini (LG GD880), a pocket-size communication hub that maximizesyoumobile web experience.

LG Mini claims to be the first phone to use the proprietary HTML 5-compatible Phantom Browser, which offers a much faster and more stable ir nternet experience. Mini also includes special internet applications and social network connection features that make keeping in touch with online friends easier than ever.

LG Mini is a 3.2-inch full touchscreen phone that feels solid in the hand and is small enough to fit into any pocket. A button-free face contributes to Mini’s simple and sleek personality while textured metal accents on the sides add to the phone’s visual appeal without detracting from its clean look.

Online Applications provide access to late-breaking information and entertainment in real-time. Applications from BBC News and AccuWeather are pre-installed and content from partners Amazon, CNN International, The New York Times, eBay and Fox News will be available through the LG Widget Gallery.

LG Mini also offers push email, 5.0 megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, A-GPS, FM radio and 7.2 Mbps HDSPA.

The LG Mini will be available in April starting in Europe followed by other regions. Prices will vary country-to-country.

LG Launches New Android-Based Optimus One Smartphone

It is not difficult to see why people believe that smartphones are the next big thing in mobile computing. With their ability to remain connected to the internet almost 24 hours a day and seven days a week, the smartphone has proven itself to be a tremendous asset for people dependent on the consumption and dissemination of online content for their communication or livelihood needs.

Officiating the launch at the Pan Pacific Hotel was Augustine Lim (pictured below), Director of Mobile Communications for LG Electronics Singapore, who spoke about the significance of the Optimus product line and what it meant for the company.

“This is a very important day for us at LG, because we are launching the first of our full range of key products,” he said. “It (the LG Optimus One) is going to foray our entry into the smartphone market.”
Also present at the launch was Patrick Fong, Product Manager for Mobile Communications at LG Electronics, who talked about the various features LG had implemented into the Optimus One in order to distinguish itself from the competition.

“You will notice that the LG Optimus One has a ‘with Google’ brand attached to it,” he said. “This is because LG actually co-developed the phone with Google, and the software has been optimized in order to run faster on the Optimus One’s hardware.”
Specs-wise, the LG Optimus One sports the standard hardware one would usually expect in a smartphone. A 600MHz processor provides the smartphone’s processing capabilities, while the bundled 1500 mAh battery offers a respectable 450 minutes of 3G talk time on a single charge. The device also has a 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen which is capable of HVGA resolutions (320 x 480).

LG launches first 3D-capable notebook in Korea, calls it the A530

LG has announced the availability of its first 3D-capable notebook, the LG Xnote A530, for sale in its domestic market. According to the Korean electronics company, the new LG Xnote A530 is designed to encourage adoption of 3D technology among consumers in their entertainment and productivity needs.

Not much about the new Xnote A530 series of 3D-capable notebooks have been revealed by LG, although a machine translation of LGs recent press release has claimed that the notebooks will feature a 15-inch display that is capable of resolutions of up to 1080p, and also sports two built-in webcams which users can utilize for capturing stills or videos in either 2D or 3D. The press release also claims that the new Xnote A530 notebooks will be powered by a combination of Intels second generation Core i7 processors and NVIDIAs GT555M graphics card, although it did not mention which specific i7 processors will be used for the notebook.

Last but definitely not least, the machine translation of LGs announcement seems to suggest that the new Xnote A530 notebooks will reportedly come with what appears to be a “True 3D PT” tool which allows users to create presentations that can be converted to 3D and subsequently displayed on 3D-capable TVs and monitors.

No details about the Xnote A530s pricing and global availability (if at all) has been announced by LG at this point of time.
